The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare them for the certificate of competency for unlimited voyage and near coastal voyage.

Unlimited Voyage

  2. Dual Skilling Bridging Programme for Operational & Management Level (Motor & Steam) (ADS (M/S))
  3. Preparatory Course for Oral Examination Chief Engineer 3000kW or more Unlimited Voyages (NCOU)
  4. Marine Engineer Officer Watchkeeping Oral Preparatory Course (Motor & Steam) (MEW (M/S))

Near Coastal Voyage

  1. Chief & Second Engineer Officer 3000kW or more Preparatory Course (Motor – Near Coastal Voyages) (ACSC01)
  2. Officer in charge of an Engineering Watch 750kW or More – Near Coastal Voyage (AWKE)

Engineering Short Courses

  1. High Voltage Course – Operation and Management (NHVOM)
  2. Bridging Course for Electro – Technical Officers (ABETO)
  3. Preparatory Course for Electro – Technical Ratings (REET)

Entry Requirements

This course is intended for students who meet the eligibility requirements as laid down by the Marine Department and in accordance to the Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Rules 1999.

Chief and 2nd Engineer 3000kw or More (Motor) Near Coastal Voyage (ACSC1)

This course is intended for marine engineer officers who:

  • Holds a Watchkeeping Engineering Certificate of Competency (750kW or more) Near Coastal Voyage

OR

  • Holds a Chief and Second Engineer Certificate of Competency on ships powered by main propulsion machinery between 750 – 3000 kW or more on Near Coastal Voyages

AND

  • Have successfully completed the necessary sea service requirement as specified in the Training & Certification Rules of Marine Department, Malaysia
  • Medically fit for sea service

Chief and 2nd Engineer 3000kw or More (Motor/Steam) Unlimited Voyage (ACSU)

This course is intended for marine engineer officers who:

  • Holds a Watchkeeping Engineering Certificate of Competency (>750kW, WKE Unlimited Voyages)
  • Have successfully completed the necessary sea service requirement of minimum 12 months after obtaining the Watchkeeping Engineer Certificate of Competency or as specified in the Training & Certification Rules of Marine Department, Malaysia
  • Medically and physically fit for sea service

Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering (ADME)

This course is intended for marine engineer officers who:

  • Holds an Unlimited Watch-Keeping Officer (EOOW) certificate of competency; and
  • Have 12 months sea service as EOOW; and
  • Successful completion of Diploma (MQAF Level 4) in Marine Engineering at ALAM or equivalent

Dual Skilling Bridging Programme For Operational & Management Level (Motor/Steam) (ADS)

This course is intended for student who:

  • Holds a certificate of competency class 2 (motor/steam) (>3000kw, unlimited voyage of STCW 78 as amended)

OR

  • Have a certificate of competency class 1 (motor/steam) (>3000kw, unlimited voyage of STCW 78 as amended)

OR

  • WKE certificate of competency at operational level in motor/steam can be allowed provided the candidate meets the requirement of marine engineering department Malaysia

High Voltage Course – Operation and Management (NHVOM)

This course is intended for

  • Seafarers (engine/electrical) with a minimum of 1-year sea experience on board ships, marine crafts and offshore installations

Tuition fees are payable in Ringgit Malaysia.
