Overview

ALAM prepares students for the combined Class 2 and Class 1 Certificate of Competencies (CoC) (Master & Chief Mate on Ship of 3000GT or more – A1MC). The Class 2 and Class 1 COCs allow students to be a Chief Officer and a Master to command on various types of ships worldwide, respectively.

In a period of 26 weeks, Malaysian Maritime Academy (ALAM) will prepare students to excel in their written examinations and to appear for an Oral examination conducted by the Malaysia Marine Department.

The Master & Chief Mate on Ship of 3000GT or more (A1MC) and the Advanced Diploma in Nautical Studies (ADNS) programmes could also be utilized to gain entry into enrolling and completing various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees locally and overseas.

Unlimited Voyage

  1. Master & Chief Mate on Ship of 3000GT or more (A1MC)
  2. Master Oral Preparatory 3000GT or more (DMCO)
  3. Chief Mate Oral Preparatory 3000GT or more (D1CO)
  4. Advanced Diploma in Nautical Studies (ADNS)

Near Coastal Voyage

  1. Master & Chief Mate on Ship of 3000GT or more (AMNC)
  2. Master & Chief Mate on Ship of 500-3000GT or more (A1NC)

Entry Requirements

This course is intended for students who meet the eligibility requirements by the Marine Department and in accordance with the Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Rules 1999.

Additional requirements for Advanced Diploma in Nautical Studies (ADNS) are as follows: –

  • Holds an Unlimited Watch-Keeping Officer (WKO) certificate of competency as well as have sea service experience at sea as WKO for at least 12 months; and
  • Successful completion of Diploma (MQAF Level 4) in Nautical Studies from Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM) with minimum CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent; and
  • For international candidate, minimum qualification of Band 5.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or other qualification equivalent to English language competence.

  • All tuition fees are payable in Ringgit Malaysia.
  • Full settlement of fees must be made on or before the registration day/ commencement of a new semester.

For International Students

Tuition fees are payable in Ringgit Malaysia. Any shortfall arising from foreign exchange currency transactions to Ringgit Malaysia and bank charges will be borne by the students/ participants while any surplus will be reflected as excess payment.
